Lici's  experience Refitting saddles on a large Event Yard

For refitting the airbags in the saddles are set back to ‘neutral’, then I start riding. From here straightness and the horses way of going are assessed. Sue added and took out air until we were both happy with the saddle balance and how the saddle is sitting on the horse. I like to cause a nuisance and have air taken in and out so I can compare what feels best 🙈 Sue and the teams attention to detail is second to none, you can’t do this with any other saddle, and the small changes make the biggest difference. I can’t imagine going back to having a saddle reflocked and hope it comes back fitting, or ‘just put a pad under it’.
We also tried some ‘Cutting Edge’ angled stirrups and a new girth/numnah. I’ve haven’t got the best knee/ankle/foot confirmation so I have always struggled to have my foot flat, not on the outside edge of the stirrup and keep them still. I couldn’t believe the difference, I could actually get my heel properly down, and my leg still and around the horse! Ask Sue about these stirrups, they are amazing!

Sue’s visit also co-insided with our vet, Liz Brown, coming to check some of the horses. It was great to have two sets of very knowledgable eyes on Dexter and Charlie while we designed their new saddles. The saddles are all made to measure, so you can take all the bits you like, and suit the horse, and put them all together! From the length, panels, twist and waist of the seat, to dressage or jump bars (depending where you like to sit), to the size/placement of the knee blocks... and then colour, sparkles and shiny bits 😍 the Event saddles we’ve come up with look amazing, I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Nonks saddle was originally bought 10years ago for a 14hh pony, it has been refitted to COUNTLESS horses many many times. Charlie’s jump saddle is now refitted to other horses on the yard. All the horses are similar shape, and because the saddles are not rigid and mould to the horses backs we can share saddles between horses. I have two jump (soon to be four ekkk!) and one dressage between them all. We never have back problems, or complaints from the physio. Ever!

For the amount of horses I’ve used these saddles on they are the most cost effective piece of equipment I’ve ever bought. Sue, Kerry and Martin are very knowledgable and take lots of time to make sure you get the best! If you’d like to have a sit in one please get in touch 🔥
